When people ask me whether it was good at our New Year’s Youth Conference (28.-31.12.2008.), I honestly answer – no! Why would I lie, and tell them it was good, when it was actually GREEEEEAAT! It is important to give right answers, isn’t it?
The Conference started on Sunday, December 28th with our evening service at which our teenagers led a part of worship. The reaL program which was organized for two whole days followed on Monday and Tuesday, and it lasted from 9:00 in the morning until little after 9:00 p.m.. The program consisted of a balanced combination of prayer, worship, sermons, several workshops , and the time for meals and fellowship.
At the workshps we learnt about worship, artistic modeling of different objects and materials, the relatoinship of Christians and politics, and the relationship of Christians and the business world. We would like to thank our workshop facilitators, sister Marija A., and brothers Miroslav N., Boris H. i Željko M., for teaching and encouraging us in many different things!
We also had excellent evening services! No wonder when we had brother Igor S. and pastor Pero ministering to us! Igor made us laugh a lot, and pastor Pero made us dance before our God, until our muscles hurt!
On Wednesday, after the morning program and breakfast, we „invaded“ at least three squares in Zagreb (Ban Jelačić, King Tomislav i Cvjetko Šarenić) with our evangelisation teams, handing out hundreds of „The Good News“, with appropriate Christmas- New Year’s leaflets/greeting cards from our church in which the true meaning of Christmas was explained to the readers, as well as how to get to know Jesus – whose birthday we celebrate on that date, isn’t that so?. The citizens of Zagreb and passers by gladly received our gifts, and some were also interested for shorter conversations.
Afer lunch and afternoon break, we went back to the church to finish preparations for the celebraition of the New Year. We had a great time at the party, with excellent musical- acting program (which was developed by and performed by the young people from our church, in cooperation with our artistic team [special thanks to the sisters Ana and Tajana, and brothers Darijan and Miro!]), and we „sailed into“ the New Year worshipping our Lord from the bottom of our hearts and top of our voices.
All in all, we really had excellent time at the Conference; we learned more about God and His plans for our lives, we got to know better brothers and sisters from our churches in other cities, and we we also got to know (better) our brothers and sisters from the bend „Without Compromise” from the Church „CCE“ from Zagreb (who were worship leaders at our service on Monday – many thanks to them for joining us) and we also experienced many other wonderful things.
We can only add – YES… we can hardly wait for our next Cnoference!!! By that time we will work hard to apply all that we learnt during these two days.
